We Support Smart Balloon Practices
Balloons have been used as a way to brighten up any occasion for many years.
The first rubber balloon was created for use in a laboratory by Michael Faraday in 1824. By 1847, London entrepreneurs were selling the first balloons made of vulcanized rubber, allowing for a stronger, more elastic balloon. It wasn’t long before balloons were used for decoration at parties and celebrations.
But with a shift of focus to the environment, there is now a concern of the impact that balloons can have. We are happy to say that we are proud stockists of Qualatex balloons who supply us with 100% natural latex balloons. Latex balloons are biodegradable, and decompose as fast as an oak leaf in your backyard.
Latex is collected by cutting the bark from rubber trees then catching the latex in a cup. Latex harvesting doesn’t hurt the tree and what's more, latex harvesting discourages deforestation because latex-producing trees are left intact. A tree can produce latex for up to 40 years!
We also fully support the good practice of responsible disposal of balloons once broken or deflated and we do not support the releasing of balloons. The Balloon Council has implemented a new industry position and we are on board! "Don't let go: Inflate. Weight. Enjoy."
When looking to purchase balloons for your next celebration, feel free to ask any questions! We are happy to help you select the best balloons for your event.
